Cyberact! Eine Aktion von Greenpeace gegen die illegale Abholzung von Urwäldern mit Unterstützung der EU
"Take action against illegal logging
Everyone knows it's illegal to import pirated CDs and DVDs, with heavy penalties if you get caught, but what happens when you import stolen timber from the world's last ancient forests? Absolutely nothing.
Write to the European Commission
The Amazon lost an area roughly the size of Belgium last year, and the Paradise Forests of South East Asia are disappearing so rapidly that their most famous residents, orang-utans, are facing extinction in the wild within the next decade. The African Forests of the Great Apes are similarly facing a huge assault. Why? Illegal and destructive logging, driven by demand for cheap wood from Europe.
Please take action now by sending a letter to Louis Michel, European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, to ask him to stop these illegal timber imports. You can also send an animated e-card (with sound!) to your friends and colleagues, and learn more about the issue from the links below.
