Die Neuverfilmung des US-Klassikers von F. Scott Fitzgerald ist durch interessante Schauspieler (Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, u.a.), eine werktreue und trotzdem moderne, poppige Inszenierung kurzweilig, obwohl mit mehr Pathos als Tiefgang versehen.
